Julia Wong

I began portrait artwork in 2018 as a self-taught discipline and creative hobby. Prior to this, I attended life painting classes at weekends for two years from 2004 which developed my passion for oil painting. My portrait work nowadays mainly involves using simply an HB pencil, and for more involved pieces I experiment with monochrome oil painting which I find more dynamic. I prefer to select faces that express emotional states that I hope I can capture and display in the final piece.
In addition to people's faces, I have also ventured out to a few pet portraits purely as gifts to friends and colleagues. I have also taken part in teaching art in kids’ classes for 18 months which I hope I may return to in the future.
